A Call for Film Festival Submission!

We are proud to announce our third Gastroenterology Film Festival competition which will take place at the BSG 2019.

Medical students, trainees, clinical fellows, and consultants are all encouraged to collaborate and submit films. Films should be around 5 minutes in duration (no more than 8) and in the context of education in gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and endoscopy.

As such, suggestions for topics could be:-

  • Key gastroenterology topics for SCE examination
  • Any area of the gastroenterology curriculum
  • Gastroenterology for Medical Students
  • General Welfare Topics relevant to our specialty (ie. ‘Preparing for Consultant Jobs’, ‘Interview/Exam Success’, ‘Financial Tips’, ‘Career Guidance’ etc…)
  • Case Based Learning* and Improvement
  • Systems Based Practice and Quality Improvement Projects

*Case Based Films must have written patient consent and with no patient identifiable content.

Genres, Judging & Prizes

Have a look at entries from the last 2 years and also at our sister platform for ideas and inspiration from the field of anaesthesia. Previously submitted films have taken on wide-ranging genres ranging from documentary, silent-movie, POV and Instructional. Films are scored foremost on high quality content, production quality, originality and entertainment value.

The winning film shall be awarded and showcased at the BSG annual meeting on Tuesday 18th June (Gastroenterology Trainees: #FOAMed Film Fest and Educational Dragon’s Den.) There will also be a chance for you to vote for your favourite entry. All suitable film submissions will be archived on our website to benefit the ongoing education of gastroenterologists in the UK and globally, in the spirit of the FOAMed ethos.
